About the role
Under supervision, the Staff Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The role involves diagnosing and treating health problems using nursing methods, health teaching, and counseling to support the well‑being of newborns and their families.
Key responsibilities
- Identify physical and psycho‑social signs and symptoms in NICU patients.
- Select and perform therapeutic measures essential for effective nursing care.
- Develop, implement, and continuously evaluate individualized nursing regimens.
- Maintain accurate nursing care plans and progress notes to ensure continuity of care.
- Interpret and report patient responses to the interdisciplinary health team.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and allied staff to plan comprehensive patient care.
- Assign appropriate tasks to allied nursing personnel and provide guidance.
- Participate in defining and maintaining nursing practice standards.
Required profile
- Registered Nurse license with eligibility to practice in New York.
- Experience or training in neonatal intensive care.
- Ability to work under supervision while exercising professional judgment.
- Strong communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration.
Required skills
- Patient assessment in a NICU setting.
- Care plan development and documentation.
