Sr. Production Director

About the role

This senior position leads large‑scale print manufacturing for a globally recognized publishing house. You will blend strategic oversight with hands‑on execution to ensure high‑quality books are delivered on time, within budget, and with a focus on sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a high‑performing production team.
• Oversee production schedules for new releases and reprints, aligning with publishing priorities.
• Collaborate with inventory, design, editorial and sales teams to optimise lead times and turnover.
• Manage domestic and international supplier relationships, negotiate pricing and monitor performance.
• Maintain consistent quality standards across all print materials and vendor outputs.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement cost‑effective solutions.
• Develop cost‑effective manufacturing plans, analyse vendor quotes and drive cost optimisation.
• Champion continuous‑improvement initiatives, sustainability and ethical sourcing.

Required profile

• 12+ years of experience in book production within publishing.
• 6+ years of proven leadership managing production teams and complex operations.
• Strong understanding of print manufacturing processes, book specifications, materials and supply chains.
• Experience with both domestic and international supplier management.
• Excellent financial, analytical, budgeting and cost‑control capabilities.
• Strong project‑management and organisational skills in a fast‑paced environment.
