About the role

Northwood is seeking a versatile Software Engineer to help design, implement, and optimise the global service that delivers space‑based connectivity. The role offers the chance to work across hardware control, data pipelines, cloud orchestration and customer‑facing APIs, with ownership of high‑impact features.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement control software for ground‑station hardware, interfacing with embedded systems and RF modems.
• Architect and optimise high‑bandwidth data pipelines for low‑latency, high‑throughput transfer between stations and end‑users.
• Lead the design of distributed cloud and on‑premises systems that orchestrate the global network.
• Develop inter‑service communication protocols, robust APIs, and intuitive front‑end interfaces.
• Build scalable data back‑ends and integrate ETL pipelines for actionable insights.
• Create monitoring and alerting solutions to ensure continuous uptime and rapid issue resolution.
• Transform telemetry data into predictive diagnostics and customer‑focused insights.
