Social Services Program Consultant 3 – South Regional Adoption Coordinator

About the role

The Georgia Department of Human Services, Division of Family and Children Services, is seeking a Regional Adoption Coordinator for the South District (Regions 6‑12). The consultant will travel throughout assigned counties to support adoption cases, remove barriers to permanency, and ensure timely outcomes for children in care.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate clear communication at case‑specific and policy levels within the adoption unit and broader agency.
• Provide case consultation, technical assistance, and interpret relevant policies, rules, and regulations.
• Design and deliver training sessions for county and regional DFCS staff.
• Conduct case reviews, staffing, and provide written and verbal feedback on adoption‑goal cases.
• Collaborate with public and private partners to expand recruitment of foster and adoptive families.
• Ensure accurate SHINES data entry for AFCARS reporting and support system users.
• Oversee adoption cases involving the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC) and track permanency benchmarks.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and four years of relevant experience, including at least one year in a supervisory or lead role.
• Proven experience working effectively with diverse populations in fast‑paced environments.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to manage multiple responsibilities independently.
• Excellent collaborative and communication skills to build relationships across county, regional, and state teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
