Senior Technical Animator

About the role

Mob Entertainment is seeking a Contract Senior Technical Animator to bridge animation and engineering for its flagship indie horror franchise. You will design, implement, and maintain animation systems and tools that enable high‑quality character movement in Unreal Engine.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain rigs, automated lip‑sync, and runtime animation solutions inside Unreal Engine.
• Create and improve tools and pipelines that streamline animation workflows.
• Collaborate with animators to ensure rigs, skeletons, and assets perform optimally.
• Work with gameplay engineers to integrate animation features and systems.
• Optimize animation assets for performance, memory usage, and runtime stability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve rigging and animation issues across the pipeline.
• Support motion‑capture integration, retargeting, and procedural animation as needed.
• Document best practices for animation pipelines and mentor junior technical animators.

Required profile

• 3+ years of technical animation and rigging experience in the video‑game industry.
• Strong proficiency with Unreal Engine, Control Rig, and animation workflows.
• Expertise in Maya (or equivalent DCC) and scripting for rigging pipelines.
• Solid understanding of character rigging, skinning, deformation, and animation state machines.
• Ability to write Python, MEL, C++, or Blueprint scripts for tools development.
• Excellent problem‑solving and cross‑disciplinary communication skills.
