Senior Principal Medical Science Liaison

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Senior Principal Medical Science Liaison to join its Research & Development team. This remote position, based in the United States, focuses on scientific exchange, clinical trial oversight, and strategic insight generation to advance eye‑care products.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain peer‑to‑peer relationships with medical experts and key opinion leaders.
• Support adoption of Alcon products through evidence‑based scientific exchange and gather external insights.
• Provide medical information to practitioners and internal teams, responding to unsolicited requests.
• Engage in scientific discussions around Alcon product data and implement medical projects.
• Direct Phase III and IV clinical trials, monitor protocol adherence, and manage study completion.
• Collaborate with Medical Information, Medical Safety, and regulatory teams on product complaints, adverse event reporting, and safety monitoring.
• Serve as a medical consultant to marketing, commercial, research, and regulatory groups.
• Ensure compliance with GxP regulations, SOPs, and company policies.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD) in a life‑science discipline.
• Extensive experience in ophthalmology or related therapeutic areas.
• Proven track record in clinical trial management and medical affairs.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and safety reporting.
• Excellent scientific communication and presentation skills.
