Senior Manager, Crime Prevention & Investigations

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Public Safety seeks a senior leader to provide enterprise‑wide oversight of crime prevention, investigations, security risk management, threat assessment, and security intelligence across the Medical Campus and broader UHealth system.

Key responsibilities

• Provides enterprise oversight of complex and sensitive public safety investigations and case management activities across the Medical Campus and broader UHealth system.
• Establishes departmental goals, objectives, priorities, and performance measures aligned with the organization’s strategic direction and operational needs.
• Directs and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel, including coaching, feedback, and professional development.
• Collaborates with senior leadership and internal stakeholders to identify operational needs, resolve complex issues, develop solutions, and support organizational objectives.
• Leads and participates in strategic initiatives, special projects, and cross‑functional committees that support departmental and organizational priorities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Public Safety, Security Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Seven or more years of progressively responsible experience in security, public safety, law enforcement, criminal investigations, crime prevention, or risk management, including demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.

Required skills

• Knowledge of crime prevention, security operations, investigations, threat assessment, and risk management principles.
• Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations and establish goals supporting the strategic plan.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of reports, recommendations, and presentations for leadership.
