Senior Machinist & Instrumentation Specialist

About the role

Tarleton State University’s Mayfield College of Engineering seeks a Senior Machinist & Instrumentation Specialist to support teaching, research, and laboratory operations. The role ensures reliable performance of scientific and instructional equipment, compliance with safety standards, and effective use of instrumentation across campus.

Key responsibilities

• Perform machining, fabrication, and modification of scientific instrumentation using CNC equipment.
• Troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and adjust laboratory instruments and instructional equipment.
• Oversee preventive maintenance, maintain documentation, and coordinate with vendors.
• Train faculty, staff, and students on safe use of instrumentation and related software.
• Manage procurement, inventory control, and installation of new laboratory equipment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• At least eight years of experience with scientific instrumentation operation, maintenance, and calibration.
• Proven ability to work independently and collaborate with academic personnel.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

What we offer

• Salary range $72,870 – $103,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
