RN PreOp PACU II, Per Diem

About the role

Join SCA Health as a Per Diem Registered Nurse specializing in Pre‑Operative and Post‑Operative Care (PACU) at the Fredericksburg Endoscopy Center. You will provide critical assessment and monitoring of patients before and after procedures, ensuring safety and comfort throughout their surgical experience.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients' pre‑operative and post‑operative status, including cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, and hemodynamic stability.
• Interpret data from non‑invasive and invasive monitoring equipment.
• Apply scoring systems such as Aldrete, Modified Aldrete (PARSAP), and PADSS to determine patient readiness for discharge.
• Develop and implement individualized perianesthesia care plans.
• Manage pain, comfort, and mental status during recovery.
• Collaborate with physicians and the care team to ensure adherence to facility policies and best practices.

Required profile

• Current RN license with experience in pre‑operative and PACU settings.
• Knowledge of anesthesia techniques, surgical interventions, and related pathophysiology.
• Ability to accurately score and document patient status using established discharge criteria.
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to respond to changing patient conditions.

Required skills

• Proficiency with patient monitoring equipment.
• Familiarity with Aldrete and PADSS scoring systems.
