Research Engineer II – Data Visualization

About the role

The Research Engineer II – Data Visualization will join the Texas A&M University System Offices in Bryan, Texas, supporting the George H.W. Bush Combat Development Complex. The role focuses on turning complex research, test and operational data into intuitive visual products that accelerate analysis and improve decision‑making for researchers, test directors and external sponsors.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop interactive data‑visualization applications for research, experimentation and operational test events.
• Transform engineering, scientific, sensor and telemetry datasets into clear visual products for technical and executive audiences.
• Create dashboards and analytical applications using modern frameworks such as Plotly Dash, Tableau, Power BI, D3.js, Grafana, or equivalents.
• Build visual interfaces that support real‑time monitoring of research and test activities.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across BCDC, Innovation Proving Grounds, Ballistics, Aero‑Optics & Materials, government agencies, industry partners and universities.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to apply scientific, software‑engineering and data‑analytics expertise independently.
• Experience turning complex datasets into actionable visual insights.
• Strong collaboration skills with diverse technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
