About the role
The Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond seeks a highly motivated recent graduate to support economists with academic research for a 24‑month term starting June 2027. Work will be conducted on‑site at the Federal Statistical Research Data Center in Washington, DC, using restricted Census data.
Key responsibilities
- Analyze large panel datasets and conduct literature reviews related to labor and industrial organization.
- Write and debug code to solve dynamic economic models using Python, Stata or R.
- Assist with model derivations and prepare presentations for internal seminars.
- Travel to Richmond eight times per year for core meeting weeks (expenses reimbursed).
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree with extensive coursework in economics, econometrics and mathematics (Calc I‑II required).
- GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and high integrity.
- Evidence of research experience (e.g., senior thesis, research assistant work).
Required skills
- Proficiency in Python, Stata and R.
- Experience with statistical analysis of longitudinal or parallelized data.
