Registered Nurse – Main PACU (Day Shift)

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Main Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This full‑time, day‑shift position provides direct nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia, ensuring safety and comfort during the critical post‑operative period.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor vital signs, airway status, and level of consciousness for patients emerging from anesthesia.
• Administer pain management, medications, and IV therapy as ordered.
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record.
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and allied health staff to coordinate patient care.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and initiate appropriate interventions.
• Educate patients and families about post‑operative recovery and discharge instructions.

Required profile

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arkansas.
• Experience in PACU or peri‑operative nursing preferred.
• Eligibility to work in the United States.
• Ability to work the designated day shift.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Clinical assessment and patient monitoring skills.
