Property Accountant – Owned Assets

About the role

Greystar is seeking a Property Accountant focused on owned assets. This remote position supports the accounting function for its portfolio, with a preference for candidates located in Houston, TX.

Key responsibilities

• Apply GAAP to analyze financial data, reconcile statements, and prepare journal entries.
• Assist in budget development and generate standard accounting and financial reports for management.
• Perform bank reconciliations, wire transfers, mortgage payments, and distributions.
• Maintain accounting controls, analyze revenue and expense trends, and recommend budget levels.
• Support property acquisitions, dispositions, and closings, including analysis of funding and grant transactions.
• Act as liaison for internal and external auditors, providing documentation and explanations.
• Collaborate with on‑site and property managers to ensure timely completion of accounting processes.
• Prepare various financial, administrative, and analytical reports as needed.

Required profile

• Experience in property or real‑estate accounting, preferably with owned assets.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining communication with teams.
• Detail‑oriented with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
