About the role

The United Nations Office of Counter‑Terrorism is seeking a Programme Management Intern to support the implementation of the non‑staff capacities of the UNCCT/UNOCT Victims of Terrorism Programme. This is a full‑time, unpaid internship based in New York, with flexible options for part‑time or remote work depending on the candidate’s needs.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in drafting background documents, reports, issue briefs, talking points, articles and presentations.
  • Attend conferences and meetings, take notes and produce concise summaries.
  • Support the organization of meetings, side events and conferences to strengthen engagement with UN partners.
  • Collect data, conduct research and provide analysis on relevant terrorism‑related topics.
  • Maintain and update programme databases and review key publications.
  • Help prepare training sessions, learning events and other capacity‑building initiatives.

Required profile

  • Enrolled in or have completed the final year of a bachelor’s degree, master’s or Ph.D. programme (or equivalent).
  • Field of study closely related to programme management, policy, international affairs or a related discipline.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English; knowledge of French or another UN official language is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently, observe UN rules and maintain confidentiality.
