Physician – Medical Asset Support Team (O‑6)

About the role

The Physician on the Medical Asset Support Team provides direct patient care during ICE removal missions and DHS operations, delivering emergency and routine medical services in austere, rapidly‑changing environments. The position requires extensive clinical expertise, readiness for frequent travel, and coordination with multiple federal agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct outpatient and inpatient care at IHSC medical facilities, with at least 50 % travel on temporary duty assignments.
• Conduct comprehensive medical histories, physical examinations, diagnostic testing, and prescribe treatments, including curative and preventive inoculations.
• Deliver emergency medical, surgical, and mental‑health services, and refer detainees to local hospitals when necessary.
• Maintain accurate medical records, prepare reports, and utilize virtual/tele‑medicine platforms for clinical services.
• Offer clinical oversight to Advanced Practice Providers, nurses, and other staff, supervising provider teams and mentoring junior clinicians.

Required profile

• Current USPHS officer or Call to Active Duty (CAD) candidate.
• Medical license and advanced clinical experience suitable for senior (O‑6) responsibilities.
• Ability to operate in austere, high‑stress environments and rapid deployment situations.
• Strong collaboration skills with multiple federal agencies and stakeholders.
