Physiatrist Faculty – MSK/Spine

About the role

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center seeks a board‑certified/eligible physiatrist to join its faculty focusing on musculoskeletal (MSK) and spine care. The position combines clinical service, outpatient consultation, and teaching responsibilities within a collaborative, value‑based health system.

Key responsibilities

• Provide general rehabilitation services across the UPMC Rehabilitation Network.
• Deliver consultative and outpatient care for patients with spine, sports, and musculoskeletal conditions.
• Teach and mentor residents and fellows in the department’s top‑ranked programs.
• Engage in basic science and clinical research collaborations within a well‑funded research environment.
• Participate in academic activities, including publications and grant acquisition, as appropriate to the appointment track.

Required profile

• Board certification or eligibility in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R).
• Strong organizational, communication, teaching, and leadership abilities.
• Evidence of scholarly productivity for tenure‑track appointments (publications, teaching, funding).
• For associate professor level: minimum five years of experience with documented scholarly output.
• For full professor level: minimum ten years of experience and national/international reputation.
