Pharmacy Specialist - Rheumatology

About the role

The Pharmacy Specialist will join the interdisciplinary Specialty Pharmacy Services team in Rheumatology at UAMS, delivering pharmacy services focused on safety, efficacy, and positive patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments and evaluate therapy appropriateness, including safety, dosing, and side‑effect management.
• Develop and manage disease‑state management agreements with providers and document clinical interventions.
• Provide drug information to medical staff and serve as a resource for payer justification using clinical studies and guidelines.
• Participate in a 24/7 on‑call rotation, quality improvement projects, and the Quality Management Committee.
• Train staff, students, and residents, and collaborate with drug manufacturers to secure limited‑distribution medications.

Required profile

• Graduate of an ACPE‑accredited College of Pharmacy with a Pharm.D or BS in Pharmacy.
• PGY1 residency training or at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Licensed (or eligible for licensure) by the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy.
• Preferred: Board Certified in a relevant area and 5+ years of experience.
