Patient Transport Associate

About the role

The Patient Transport Associate provides safe, timely, and accurate movement of patients, medical equipment, and related items throughout the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences campus. This onsite position supports clinical teams by ensuring patients reach their destinations comfortably and securely.

Key responsibilities

• Transport patients using wheelchairs, gurneys, and other approved equipment.
• Secure IV lines, drainage tubes, and other patient‑related devices during transport.
• Coordinate with nursing and clinical staff to schedule and prioritize transports.
• Maintain cleanliness and readiness of transport equipment.
• Document transport activities and report any incidents promptly.

Required profile

• Must be fully vaccinated against Covid‑19 or have an approved exemption.
• Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.
• No prior experience required; willingness to learn hospital transport procedures.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced healthcare environment and handle patients of all ages.

Required skills

• Operation of wheelchairs, gurneys, and patient transport devices.
• Understanding of basic patient safety and handling protocols.
