Patient Services Associate - Behavioral Health

About the role

The Patient Services Associate (PSA) supports the Behavioral Health Service Line’s General Adult Inpatient Unit at the Psychiatric Research Institute. Working under the Clinical Services Manager and RN direction, the PSA provides clerical and patient‑care assistance, ensuring smooth admission, discharge, and daily operations.

Key responsibilities

• Greet patients, families, and visitors; register and verify demographic, insurance, and financial information.
• Schedule, reschedule, and confirm behavioral health appointments and coordinate referrals, authorizations, and medical records.
• Perform patient check‑in and check‑out procedures, collect payments, and maintain accurate records in the electronic medical record system.
• Answer telephone inquiries, provide information about services, and communicate effectively with psychiatrists, nurses, therapists, and other staff.

Required profile

• High School diploma or GED with at least one year of health‑care experience.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Successful completion of UAMS conflict management, PCT and PSC training within six months of hire.
