Orthopedic Technician – TOSH Specialty Clinic

About the role

The Orthopedic Technician supports physicians and clinical staff in the TOSH Specialty Clinic, providing hands‑on care for patients requiring casts, splints, braces and other orthopedic devices. The role involves patient education, equipment preparation, and ensuring safety and comfort throughout procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Assist physicians, nurses and residents with orthopedic procedures, including application and removal of casts, splints, braces, immobilizers and traction equipment.
• Prepare patients and equipment for procedures while maintaining patient safety, privacy and comfort.
• Educate patients and families on care, activity restrictions and warning signs for casts, braces and other devices.
• Apply and remove orthopedic dressings, assist with wound care, and provide instruction on durable medical equipment such as crutches, walkers and canes.
• Support fracture and injury management, including preparation for reductions and other interventions.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum one year of direct patient‑care experience.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, lifting up to 25 lb and using hands frequently.
• Proof of legal authority to work in the United States.
