Operating Room Registered Nurse – Orthopaedic & Spine Hospital

About the role

The Orthopaedic & Spine Hospital (TOSH) at UAMS Health is seeking a passionate Operating Room Registered Nurse. You will join a team dedicated to high‑quality, patient‑centered surgical care, ensuring safety and rapid recovery for patients.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care throughout the pre‑operative, intra‑operative, and immediate post‑operative phases.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care while maintaining a sterile environment.
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, technologists, and other peri‑operative staff.
• Verify patient identity, surgical site, and procedure, and document intra‑operative care accurately.
• Manage surgical instruments and equipment, adhering to infection‑prevention protocols.
• Act as patient advocate, monitoring patient status and responding to changes promptly.
• Participate in quality‑improvement and patient‑safety initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s, Associate’s, Diploma, or Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Current, unrestricted Registered Nursing license.
• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience, preferably in an operating room setting.
• Basic computer skills.
• Excellent communication, strong work ethic, and accountability.
• Preferred: BLS/ACLS certification, scrubbing experience, orthopaedic surgery experience.
