OB Technician – Hospital OB Department

About the role

The OB Technician joins the obstetrics department of a hospital, working day‑shift to support the patient care team. The role focuses on delivering compassionate, cost‑effective care while maintaining high standards of patient satisfaction and confidentiality.

Key responsibilities

• Assist licensed personnel and RN‑directed tasks within the OB unit.
• Transport patients, set up sterile equipment for deliveries, and prepare labor/post‑partum rooms.
• Wash and package instruments for sterilization, handle contaminated linen, sharps, and surgical tools.
• Perform clerical duties, use the HIS system, and complete daily census and acuity reports.
• Collect parental data, fill birth certificates, and witness paternity declaration forms.
• Respond to codes, infant abduction alerts, and manage contaminated waste.

Required profile

• BLS certification (required).
• Experience in surgery or OB nursing (required).
• CNA certification (optional).
• Fetal monitoring experience (optional).
