Medical Laboratory Scientist I – PRN (Reference Lab)

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist I on a PRN (as‑needed) basis to support its Reference Laboratory. This temporary, fixed‑term position provides critical diagnostic testing services and contributes to the overall quality of patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Perform high‑complexity laboratory tests in the reference lab according to established protocols.
• Validate, interpret, and report test results accurately and promptly.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory standards, including CLIA and CAP.
• Participate in quality‑control activities, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure appropriate test utilization.

Required profile

• Current or recent graduate of an accredited Medical Laboratory Science program.
• Eligibility for certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP or equivalent).
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Ability to work variable shifts as needed.
