Medical Assistant – Surgery Clinic Staff

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join its Surgery Clinic staff in Little Rock. This full‑time, day‑shift position supports surgical teams by delivering high‑quality patient care and ensuring smooth clinic operations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare patients for surgical procedures, including taking vitals, medical histories, and ensuring consent forms are completed.
• Assist surgeons and nurses during examinations and minor procedures, maintaining a sterile environment.
• Document patient information accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
• Manage clinic flow by scheduling appointments, handling patient inquiries, and coordinating follow‑up care.
• Maintain inventory of clinical supplies and ensure equipment is clean and functional.

Required profile

• Legal authorization to work in the United States on the first day of employment.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant training program or equivalent experience in a clinical setting.
• Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills
