Medical Assistant PRN – Float Pool for Outpatient Clinics

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking a PRN Medical Assistant to join its IMSL Float Pool, providing support across outpatient clinics Monday through Friday. This temporary, fixed‑term position offers flexible scheduling while ensuring consistent patient care in a fast‑paced clinical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist clinicians with patient intake, vital signs, and documentation.
• Prepare exam rooms, maintain supplies, and ensure cleanliness.
• Perform basic clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, EKGs, and specimen collection as directed.
• Enter patient information accurately into the electronic health record system.
• Support patient flow by coordinating appointments and follow‑up instructions.

Required profile

• Current or former University of Arkansas System employee (including student employees or graduate assistants) with valid Workday access.
• Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.
• Ability to work day shifts in an outpatient setting.

Required skills

• Basic clinical competency as a Medical Assistant.
• Familiarity with standard medical office procedures and patient interaction.
