Master Pilot Plant Technician

About the role

The Master Pilot Plant Technician will join the MRD Tape Process Development Center (TPDC) within 3M's Global Chemical Operations. Working Monday‑Friday with rotating shifts, you will support prototype‑scale material and process development for multiple 3M divisions.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a safe work environment and use required personal protective equipment.
• Set up, operate, clean, and change over development equipment for experimental and standard processes.
• Collaborate with process engineers and customers to run product and process experiments.
• Perform QC measurements and analytical techniques, record results, and provide recommendations.
• Translate customer requirements into process line capabilities to meet experimental objectives.
• Train new personnel on machine operations and processes.
• Maintain accurate process, experimental, and quality test records.
• Manage raw‑material inventory and production reporting.
• Handle physical tasks such as lifting pails, moving drums, and operating PIVs.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED (or higher) completed and verified prior to start.
• At least four years of combined laboratory, pilot‑plant, or manufacturing experience in a private, public, government, or military setting.
