Maintenance Assistant

About the role

The University of Arkansas at Monticello is seeking a reliable Maintenance Assistant to support the Grounds Maintenance department. This full‑time, on‑site position involves routine campus upkeep and responding to emergency situations.

Key responsibilities

• Mow lawns, weed‑eat, and edge sidewalks.
• Maintain and repair sprinkler systems.
• Move furniture, remove trash, and set up spaces for events.
• Operate and service equipment such as tractors, backhoes, zero‑turn mowers, chainsaws, blowers, and trimmers.
• Perform on‑call duties for weather‑related or emergency maintenance.

Required profile

• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb and work in all weather conditions.
• Willingness to diagnose equipment issues and perform necessary repairs.
