Land Mobile Radio (LMR) Technician II

About the role

As a Land Mobile Radio (LMR) Technician II with GDIT, you will support critical communications infrastructure for government agencies. You will work on‑site at customer locations, installing, maintaining and repairing a variety of LMR equipment to ensure reliable service.

Key responsibilities

• Install, remove, modify, troubleshoot and repair LMR base stations, repeaters and mobile radios.
• Test circuits, equipment and alarms, identifying and resolving issues or escalating when needed.
• Perform cable pulling, terminating, splicing and install supporting hardware such as routers, switches, multiplexors and cable trays.
• Respond to emergency calls and system failures to restore communications quickly.
• Maintain documentation of work performed and equipment configurations.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of related experience with LMR systems.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
• Experience working in a large‑scale LMR shop environment.

Required skills

• Installation and maintenance of LMR base stations, repeaters and mobile radios.
• Familiarity with communications consoles, XTS‑5000 hand‑held radios, trunked and non‑trunked LMR systems.
• Use of key loaders, antennas, multi‑couplers, duplexers, and OTAR keying equipment.
• Operation of test equipment: service monitors, system analyzers, oscilloscopes, multimeters, frequency counters, power meters, spectrum analyzers, digital recording equipment.
• Hands‑on work with cable pulling, terminating, splicing, routers, switches, multiplexors and cable trays.
• Maintenance and troubleshooting of Motorola and other LMR equipment.
