Juvenile Probation Parole Specialist II – Richmond CSO, HITS & Intake

About the role

Under general supervision, the Juvenile Probation Parole Specialist II provides social services to support the rehabilitation of juvenile offenders in custody or on probation in the Richmond area of Augusta, GA.

Key responsibilities

• Interview probationers and parolees regularly to assess progress toward goals and compliance with probation contracts.
• Recommend remedial or court action for non‑compliance and initiate appropriate legal steps.
• Administer drug and alcohol testing, including random screens, to verify treatment program compliance.
• Maintain detailed case files for each assigned offender.
• Discuss how substance abuse or anger management issues may have contributed to criminal behavior.
• Conduct pre‑hearing investigations, testify in court, and recommend sentencing conditions.
• Inform offenders of conditional release requirements such as restitution, education, and employment stipulations.
• Prepare progress reports and written evaluations.
• Arrange medical, mental health, or substance‑abuse treatment services as ordered.
• Supervise community‑based sentences, perform curfew checks, and conduct home, work, or school visits.

Required profile

• Associate degree in a related field and two years of relevant human‑services experience, or four years of direct case‑management experience with offenders.
• Or two years of experience at the lower‑level Juvenile Probation/Parole Specialist I (SSP130) or equivalent.
• Ability to meet agency physical‑agility standards and pass required assessments.
