About the role
Oceaneering’s Marine Services Division is looking for an Inside Machinist II to produce one‑off, high‑precision submarine components. The position works in a low‑volume, build‑to‑print environment supporting the U.S. Navy fleet and includes a $5,000 sign‑on bonus.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, review, and edit CNC programs (lathe and mill) using G‑code and CAM platforms, then set up workpieces, fixtures and tooling.
- Operate CNC and manual lathes, mills, grinders, saws and related equipment to machine exotic alloys such as HY‑80, HY‑100, Inconel and stainless steel.
- Interpret complex blueprints, GD&T callouts and technical documents to plan and execute machining processes.
- Perform first‑article runs, conduct precision measurements with micrometers, calipers and dial indicators, and record inspection data.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality and Planning to resolve machining issues and ensure first‑time quality.
Required profile
- High School Diploma/GED and at least two years of experience machining critical components in a precision or defense environment.
- U.S. citizenship (no dual citizenship).
- Proficiency in CNC programming for lathe and mill, including editing G‑code and applying offsets.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, GD&T callouts and technical specifications.
- Strong shop‑math skills and experience performing in‑process inspections with accurate documentation.
Required skills
- CNC programming (lathe and mill) using G‑code and CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks).
- Operation of CNC and manual shop equipment such as lathes, mills, grinders and saws.
- Use of precision measuring instruments: micrometers, height gauges, depth gauges, calipers, vernier and dial indicators.
- Machining of exotic alloys (HY‑80, HY‑100, Inconel, stainless steel) to tight tolerances.
- Interpretation of GD&T and technical drawings.
