Helicopter Pilot Instructor – Flight Training

About the role

Amentum is seeking experienced helicopter pilots to serve as instructors at Fort Rucker, Alabama. You will train student pilots on the UH‑72 platform, ensuring they acquire the knowledge and skills required for military aviation careers. Safety and professionalism are paramount in this high‑tempo training environment.

Key responsibilities

• Teach, coach, and mentor student pilots through intensive rotary‑wing flight training.
• Conduct flight instruction across a 40,000‑square‑mile airspace while maintaining the company’s exemplary safety record.
• Provide instrument and night‑flight training, including the use of flight simulators and hooded instruments.
• Ensure compliance with all FAA, DOD, and Amentum training standards.

Required profile

• FAA (or ICAO‑equivalent) commercial pilot certificate.
• FAA flight instructor certificate with rotorcraft category, helicopter class, and instrument helicopter ratings, or graduation from a DOD rotary‑wing instructor pilot course.
• Minimum 1,500 total flight hours (pilot‑in‑command or second‑in‑command).
• At least 100 hours of hooded instrument, flight‑simulator instrument, or weather‑pilot time.
• Minimum 75 night‑flying hours.
• At least 500 hours of instructor time.
• Current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate.
• Night Vision Goggle (NVG) qualification with 200 NVG hours.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
