Head Start Teacher – Early Childhood Education

About the role

The Head Start Teacher is responsible for developing and delivering individualized and group educational plans for preschool children, fostering social‑emotional, physical, and cognitive growth. This full‑time position reports to the Center Director or Manager of Education & Inclusion and may supervise Teacher Assistants, Program Aides, and Volunteers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement lesson plans and activities that promote all developmental areas and school readiness.
• Maintain a safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
• Build strong relationships with children, families, and staff.
• Keep accurate paper and electronic records, including observations, assessments, and screenings.
• Supervise and mentor Assistant Teachers, Program Aides, and Volunteers.
• Provide constant supervision of children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring playground safety.
• Communicate important issues to the Center Director or Manager.

Required profile

• Full‑time availability to manage day‑to‑day classroom operations.
