Full-Time Histotechnician Position

About the role

We are seeking a full‑time Histotechnician to join the laboratory team at St. Peter’s Hospital. The successful candidate will support routine histology and cytopreparatory work, ensuring accurate specimen processing and compliance with all departmental policies.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general histology duties, including tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining.
• Carry out general cytopreparatory duties such as slide preparation and cell block creation.
• Operate laboratory instrumentation according to standard operating procedures and maintain proper documentation.
• Execute corrective and preventative maintenance on equipment and instruments following established protocols.
• Adhere to specimen collection, processing, storage, and handling SOPs while maintaining correct patient identification.
• Stay current with departmental policies, procedures, and competency requirements.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree in Histotechnology or related field.
• Current New York State license for histotechnologists.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow detailed SOPs.
• Commitment to ongoing education and competency assessments.
