French Teacher for Grades 4-8

About the role

The Cathedral School seeks a dedicated French Teacher for grades 4‑8 to join its Upper School team. You will nurture students’ language development while supporting the school’s commitment to equity, diversity, and academic excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Teach four sections of French for grades 5‑8 and three sections for grade 4 each cycle.
• Develop students’ reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills using backward‑design lesson planning.
• Proctor or teach an Upper School elective and serve as an advisor for 5‑8 students, monitoring academic progress and social‑emotional well‑being.
• Observe, assess, and differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning profiles.
• Collaborate with the World Language department, Upper School guidance team, and Learning Specialist to ensure consistent, supportive instruction.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of experience teaching French to middle‑school students.
• Fluency or near‑fluency in French.
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Commitment to equity, justice, and a nurturing classroom environment.
