Financial Controller – Build Accounting Function

About the role

Our client, an expanding agriculture company, is opening a brand‑new facility near Seward, Nebraska, and needs a Financial Controller to design and launch the accounting function from the ground up. This is a unique, newly created position that offers high visibility and direct collaboration with executive leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all accounting functions for the new facility, including P&L, balance sheet, and general ledger.
• Design and implement internal controls and accounting procedures.
• Lead month‑end close, reconciliation activities, and support audit processes.
• Supervise a small team handling accounts payable, payroll/HR, and administrative support.
• Act as the in‑house expert on financial systems and ERP workflows.
• Collaborate with leadership to deliver clear and dependable financial insights.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
• Approximately 4+ years of accounting or finance experience; exceptional candidates may be considered with less.
• Strong attention to detail, accountability, and desire to own the accounting function.
• Experience in manufacturing, operational, or cost accounting is preferred.
• Leadership experience or a demonstrated ability to develop into a leadership role.
