Executive Producer

About the role

The Executive Producer will lead the talented team of producers at KYTX‑T, the TEGNA‑owned CBS affiliate in Tyler. This senior role focuses on creating compelling, audience‑focused content across all platforms while mentoring and developing newsroom talent.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate on and execute long‑term newsroom strategy.
• Train, develop, and coach producers and content creators across digital and broadcast platforms.
• Oversee daily editorial processes and on‑air execution, providing feedback and coaching.
• Review, approve, and edit scripts and rundowns for accuracy and quality.
• Source and recruit top‑tier journalists and manage coverage from breaking news to special projects.
• Ensure compliance with brand standards, company policies, FCC rules, and ethical guidelines.
• Direct newsroom operations, manage schedules, and set performance goals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field.
• Proven experience as a news producer and newsroom leader.
• Track record of high‑quality journalism, integrity, and ethical decision‑making.
• Passion for mentoring journalists and fostering a collaborative newsroom culture.
• Ability to remain calm during live, breaking‑news situations and tight deadlines.
