Elementary Prep Time Specialist – Physical Education

About the role

The Elementary Prep Time Specialist supports Heritage Elementary by delivering instruction and supervising students during the teacher preparation period. Working under the principal’s guidance, the specialist prepares lesson plans and classroom materials for a variety of specialized subjects.

Key responsibilities

• Teach classes and supervise students during preparation time.
• Develop lesson plans and gather required materials for each subject area.
• Provide instruction in subjects such as music, art, science, computer operations, media center usage, physical education, languages, and health.
• Collaborate with teachers and school staff to ensure smooth classroom transitions.
• Maintain records of student attendance and progress during prep periods.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; two years of post‑secondary education (48 semester hours) or an associate’s degree preferred.
• Formal training in the specialized subject area is desirable.
• Ability to pass a Utah State Office of Education approved Para‑Professional Test (required at a later date).
• Strong interpersonal skills for interaction with students, teachers, and staff.
• Capability to effectively teach assigned course subjects.

• Hourly wage of $19.60 (2025‑26 Support Salary Table).
