About the role

Proof Strategies is seeking adaptable communications professionals to join its growing Washington, D.C. office. The role blends strategic communications, public affairs, and digital marketing to support corporate, nonprofit, government, and advocacy clients.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute earned media strategies, media relations, and reporter outreach across national, regional, trade, and policy outlets.
• Lead public affairs and stakeholder‑engagement initiatives for government, nonprofit, energy, health‑care, and mission‑driven organizations.
• Craft executive visibility and thought‑leadership content, including op‑eds, speeches, briefing materials, and internal communications.
• Design integrated communications campaigns that combine public relations, digital strategy, content development, and marketing.
• Plan and coordinate events such as stakeholder convenings, media events, and policy‑focused gatherings.
• Conduct research, message development, narrative analysis, and communications planning.
• Monitor media, policy, and stakeholder landscapes to identify risks, trends, and opportunities.
• Draft and edit press materials, client memos, briefings, presentations, and strategic recommendations.
• Support new‑business efforts through research, proposal development, and pitch materials.

Required profile

• 2–10+ years of experience in strategic communications, public relations, public affairs, marketing communications, journalism, or stakeholder engagement.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, communicate directly with clients, and adapt quickly in politically sensitive or fast‑moving environments.
• Strong judgment, emotional intelligence, professionalism, and a sense of humor.
• Experience working at a communications firm or involvement in new‑business initiatives is a plus.
• Residency in the greater Washington, D.C. area.
