Cross Categorical Special Education Teacher

About the role

We are seeking a Cross Categorical Special Education Teacher to provide individualized instruction and support to students with IEPs in a school setting. The role involves delivering specialized instruction, collaborating with general education staff, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Gather and analyze informal assessment data and develop appropriate IEPs.
• Deliver specialized instruction and case‑manage students as outlined in their IEPs.
• Collaborate with regular‑education teachers to align curricular supports and supplementary aids.
• Communicate positively with students, families, and staff to meet individual needs.
• Maintain accurate records, forms, and reports in compliance with district, state, and federal regulations.
• Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to diverse learning styles.
• Participate in ongoing progress monitoring and data‑driven decision making.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Wisconsin Special Education Cross Categorical #801 license or equivalent valid special education license.
• Valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
• IB experience or training.
• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field.
• Experience working with children or young adults with diverse academic, functional, and behavioral needs, preferably in an urban, culturally diverse setting.
• Excellent written and oral communication, strong attendance record, and ability to multitask and work independently.
• Commitment to confidentiality under FERPA and HIPAA and adherence to district policies and timelines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Experience using Google Apps.
• Ability to learn and use Infinite Campus student information system.
