Corporate Banking FIG – Underwriter & Portfolio Manager Associate

About the role

The Corporate & Investment Banking Associate will underwrite and manage a portfolio of FIG loan relationships, monitoring risk and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This role contributes to loan growth and efficiency while delivering an industry‑leading experience for internal and external customers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the deal diligence process, identifying and assessing key risks.
• Review deal documents, third‑party reports, and relevant information.
• Structure loan deals and oversee the internal approval workflow.
• Manage the legal aspects of the deal process.
• Monitor and manage a portfolio of FIG loan relationships, ensuring risk mitigation.
• Support the department manager on continuous‑improvement projects and loan‑growth initiatives.
• Act as a subject‑matter expert and deliver a high‑quality experience for customers.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience underwriting transactions for financial‑institution clients.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, Management, Economics or a related field.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical abilities and proficiency in financial statement analysis.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Team‑oriented mindset and strong partnership skills with documentation and underwriting units.
• Comfortable handling customer escalations, work‑outs, and loan restructurings.
