About the role
Sezzle is seeking a Contracts Attorney to join its in‑house Legal team. The attorney will own day‑to‑day commercial contracting, vendor procurement, sales and merchant agreements, and technology transactions while protecting the company’s commercial, regulatory, and data interests.
Key responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a broad portfolio of commercial agreements, including MSAs, SaaS and cloud subscription agreements, software licenses, professional services agreements, SOWs, order forms, NDAs, and technology agreements.
- Lead vendor procurement contracting from intake through risk triage, redlines, negotiation, signature, and renewal in partnership with Procurement, InfoSec, and business owners.
- Support the Sales organization on merchant and partner agreements, pricing schedules, integration terms, marketing addenda, and bespoke enterprise deals.
- Negotiate technology agreements covering payments infrastructure, data and analytics, AI/ML services, hosting, fraud and identity, and developer tools.
- Review and negotiate data protection agreements (DPAs), standard contractual clauses, and security exhibits, coordinating with Privacy and InfoSec.
- Maintain and improve Sezzle’s contract templates, playbooks, fallback positions, and self‑service resources.
- Advise internal stakeholders on contract risk, escalation paths, and practical commercial alternatives.
- Operate and enhance contract lifecycle management (CLM) tooling, intake workflows, signature processes, and post‑signature obligations tracking.
- Track renewals, auto‑renewal windows, and key commercial obligations across the vendor portfolio.
- Partner with Finance, Tax, and Accounting on contract terms.
Required profile
- Mid‑level attorney with 4–7 years of experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Familiarity with data protection agreements and U.S. and international privacy frameworks.
- Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams including Procurement, Sales, Engineering, Product, and Information Security.
- Strong analytical and risk‑assessment skills.
