About the role
The Consumer Safety Inspector ensures that food, beverages and other ingestible products manufactured in the Dallas District comply with federal safety standards. The position involves sampling, conducting field tests, documenting findings, and communicating corrective actions to maintain product quality and sanitation.
Key responsibilities
- Collect and test samples of regulated food commodities, pharmaceuticals and other ingestible items.
- Identify abnormalities in products or production environments and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare written reports and deliver oral briefings on inspection findings.
- Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders regarding safety standards.
- Adapt to varying shifts and plant assignments across the Dallas District.
Required profile
- At least 52 weeks of experience with food safety inspection, sampling, or quality control in a manufacturing environment (GS‑05 level).
- For GS‑07 level, an additional year of independent, routine inspection experience.
- Demonstrated ability to document findings and interact professionally with diverse contacts.
Required skills
- Knowledge of federal food safety regulations and sampling procedures.
