Building Trades Teacher (Probationary) – Career & Technical Education

About the role

The Buffalo Public School District is seeking a probationary Building Trades Teacher to join its Career & Technical Education program for the 2026‑2027 school year. The successful candidate will deliver high‑quality instruction in one or more construction pathways to high‑school students, preparing them for skilled‑trade careers.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and assess lessons in carpentry, electrical (residential), HVAC, or plumbing.
• Teach model making, blueprint reading, and construction principles such as foundations, floor, wall, roof systems, doors, windows, and specialized materials.
• Produce and evaluate technical drawings related to students' projects.
• Participate in personal interviews, a modeled lesson, and a writing sample as part of the hiring process.

Required profile

• Valid New York State teaching certification in Carpentry, Electrical (Residential), HVAC, or Plumbing, or equivalent certification through NYSED with at least four years of relevant work experience.
• Demonstrated ability to teach construction pathways to high‑school learners.
• Capacity to develop technical drawings and instructional materials.
