Assistant Project Manager

About the role

Our client, a leading general contractor in Chicago, is seeking a motivated Assistant Project Manager to support large‑scale commercial construction projects. The role works closely with senior project leadership across all phases from pre‑construction to close‑out, offering exposure to healthcare, commercial, multifamily, higher education and interior markets.

Key responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers with budgeting, scheduling, subcontractor coordination and overall project execution.
• Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes and project documentation.
• Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, field teams and subcontractors.
• Track project costs, schedules and procurement activities to ensure successful delivery.
• Help maintain quality, safety and compliance standards on site.
• Participate in project meetings and support progress reporting.
• Support project close‑out activities and turnover documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or a related field (preferred).
• 2–5 years of commercial construction experience (preferred).
• Strong understanding of construction processes and project documentation.
• Motivated to grow into a Project Manager role long‑term.
• Excellent communication, organizational and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Procore (or similar construction management software).
• Bluebeam (or similar).
