Assistant Professor of Social and Digital Media in Journalism

About the role

The School of Journalism and Strategic Media invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Social and Digital Media in Journalism, beginning August 2027. This nine‑month, in‑person faculty appointment will involve teaching, research, and service within the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in social and digital media, including existing and newly developed classes.
• Maintain an active research agenda in areas such as digital journalism, platform cultures, algorithms, AI, misinformation, and audience engagement.
• Contribute to departmental service, including advising students, participating in committees, and supporting the Democracy as a Public Good cluster initiative.

Required profile

• Terminal degree in journalism or a related media field earned by the start date.
• At least two years of professional, research, or relevant experience in digital journalism, social media, or public relations.
• Evidence of or potential for an active scholarly or creative research agenda related to social and digital media.
• Demonstrated ability to design and deliver course content in face‑to‑face or online settings.
