Assistant Athletic Trainer

About the role

Saint Louis University is seeking an Assistant Athletic Trainer to deliver top‑tier health care to its diverse student‑athlete population. The role involves injury prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and overall wellness promotion within a collegiate athletic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive health care services, including injury prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for student‑athletes.
• Maintain accurate medical records, physical examinations, insurance details, and injury evaluation reports.
• Assess injury risk, implement self‑care strategies, and promote overall wellness.
• Document all patient encounters electronically.
• Attend scheduled meetings, team practices, events, and travel as required.
• Assist with institutional and NCAA drug testing procedures.
• Coordinate with coaches and the Sports Performance department regarding injured athletes.
• Supervise student sports‑medicine assistants and Athletic Training Program students.
• Stay current with Missouri state and national licensing requirements and comply with university, A10, NCAA bylaws, and NATA Code of Ethics.

Required profile

• NATA Board of Certification (NATABOC) and Missouri state licensure.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Knowledge of NCAA Division I rules, medical privacy laws, and athletic training best practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
