Apparel Graphic Designer – Fabric Printing

About the role

Swaybox Studios is seeking an Apparel Graphic Designer to lead fabric printing and treatment for costumes, puppets, and other materials used in feature films. You will translate bold visual concepts into high‑quality printed fabrics that meet both artistic and technical production demands.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and apply techniques such as dye‑sublimation, screen printing, embroidery, and vinyl cutting to enhance fabric textures and patterns.
• Conduct tests to ensure colorfastness, durability, and performance under production conditions.
• Collaborate with costume and puppet teams, providing prepared fabrics and creative solutions.
• Maintain detailed records of processes, formulas, and artwork to ensure accurate replication.
• Inspect fabrics and prints for aesthetic and performance standards.
• Troubleshoot technical challenges related to printing and fabric preparation.
• Organize and code artwork files, and mentor junior team members.
• Be available for extended hours as required by the production timeline.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience in fabric printing or textile art.
• Bachelor’s degree in fine art, textile design, graphic design, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; familiarity with textile design software is a plus.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
• In‑depth understanding of fabric properties, color theory, and dyeing techniques.
