Wind Farm Technician II

About the role

The Wind Farm Technician II supports the safe and efficient operation of one or more wind farms. You will perform scheduled maintenance, troubleshoot equipment, and ensure the availability of plant tools, vehicles, and assets while upholding RWE’s safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Execute all operation and maintenance activities safely, following site policies and procedures.
• Conduct acceptance and performance tests after planned maintenance or outages.
• Perform turbine maintenance, including service, major component replacement, and troubleshooting.
• Assist with Balance of Plant tasks such as substation and collection system upkeep.
• Maintain accountability and readiness of tools, equipment, and vehicles.
• Provide technical guidance to the O&M team and track service activities in the digital maintenance management system.
• Support safety exercises and act as backup for personnel at other RWE sites when needed.

Required profile

• High School Diploma (required) or Associate’s Degree in a scientific/technical field (preferred).
• Minimum 4 years of experience in operations or maintenance of power generation, transmission, or distribution.
• Unrestricted driver’s license in good standing.
• Willingness to relocate within a one‑hour drive of the site.
• Military technical experience (electrical, electronics, or mechanical) is a plus.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with hand and power tools.
• Wind turbine experience (Vestas, GE, Acciona, Nordex preferred).
• Current Journeyman or Master Electrician license, or Wind Tech Certificate.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams.
• Ability to use a digital maintenance management system for tracking work orders.
