About the role
Join the Georgia Forestry Commission as a Wildland Firefighter/Ranger supporting the Liberty, Long, and S. Bryan units. This position offers a dynamic, outdoor environment focused on protecting Georgia’s forest resources through fire suppression and prevention.
Key responsibilities
- Respond to wildland fire incidents and conduct fire suppression operations.
- Perform fire prevention activities, including public education and hazard mitigation.
- Operate and maintain firefighting equipment and vehicles.
- Collaborate with team members and other agencies during emergency responses.
- Maintain readiness by completing regular training and fitness assessments.
Required profile
- Class A CDL learner’s permit prior to hire and ability to obtain a CDL within 12 weeks.
- Pass background investigation, medical evaluation, and physical fitness tests.
- Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including steep terrain, heat, smoke, and high altitudes.
- Willingness to live or relocate within 45 minutes of the Ludowici work site.
