Wildland Firefighter / Ranger – Georgia Forestry Commission

About the role

Join the Georgia Forestry Commission as a Wildland Firefighter/Ranger in the Jefferson County unit. You will protect Georgia’s forest resources by responding to wildland fire incidents and performing fire prevention duties in and around Stapleton, GA.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to and suppress wildland fires in various terrains and weather conditions.
• Conduct fire prevention, education, and patrol activities within the assigned district.
• Operate and maintain fire suppression equipment and vehicles.
• Collaborate with team members and other agencies during emergency responses.
• Maintain fitness standards and complete annual physical agility testing.

Required profile

• Willingness to live or relocate within 45 minutes of the work site.
• Ability to work in high‑adrenaline, physically demanding environments.
• Self‑directed, adaptable, and committed to public service.

Required skills

• Class A CDL learner’s permit (or ability to obtain a CDL within 12 weeks).
